CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Pawtex Care & Maintenance
Pawtex webbing is designed to be durable, flexible, and long-lasting, but proper care ensures it stays looking and performing its best. Whether you’re creating collars, leads, harnesses, or equestrian gear, following these guidelines will keep your Pawtex webbing strong, vibrant, and easy to work with.
Daily Cleaning & Light Maintenance
For routine use, Pawtex can be quickly cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap such as dish soap or green soap. Wipe away dirt, rinse thoroughly with clean water, and allow the webbing to air dry. Avoid drying in direct sunlight or near heat sources, which can affect the coating over time.
Grease & Build-Up from Pets
Regular contact with pets may create a light greasy film, particularly on light or matte colours. Clean periodically using a soft cloth with mild degreasing soap (diluted dish soap works well). Avoid harsh solvents such as alcohol, bleach, or paint thinner, which can damage the PVC coating.
After Saltwater or Outdoor Use
Pawtex is resistant, but saltwater, sand, or mud can dull the finish over time. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water after outdoor adventures and air dry completely. Dry any metal hardware separately to reduce the risk of corrosion.
Preventing Cracking & Damage
To maintain a smooth surface and avoid cracking (craquelé), store Pawtex in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep it away from extreme cold or heat and avoid aggressive chemicals. Only use mild, PVC-safe cleaning products.
Cutting & Sealing Edges
When cutting Pawtex for custom projects, edges may fray or feel sticky. Seal cut edges using a hot knife or a brief touch with a lighter. Do not exceed 70°C (158°F) to prevent coating damage.
KEY CARE TIPS
By following these simple steps, your Pawtex webbing will stay strong, flexible, and vibrant, ready for years of reliable use in all your custom pet and equestrian gear.
